Namibia in South West Africa is completely different to any other destination. It is bordered by Angola to the north, Zambia to the northeast, Botswana to the east, South Africa to the southeast and south and the Atlantic Ocean to the west and ranges from arid land in the north to desert on the coast and in the east. With National Parks rich in African wildlife, desert landscapes with some of the world’s tallest sand dunes, desolate coastal plains, abandoned colonial towns, localised tribes of bushmen and crystal clear night skys. Namibia has something for every photographer.
The tour is predominately run from fully kitted out 4X4 vehicles, camping at official key points that will have standard campsite ablutions an electric hook up point, running water and Barbecue area. Namibia lends itself to self-driving, with well-maintained, mostly graveled roads giving you access to Etosha National Park’s silvery salt pans, the red-rock landscape of Damaraland, and the vast crevasse of the Fish River Canyon. Photographers need look no further than Dead Vlei, where burnt-orange dunes contrast against blackened Camelthorn trees.
We start the tour from Windhoek traveling south to Keetmanshoop before changing direction of travel and looping back northwards towards the Twyfelfontein area, before finally swinging southwards again to return to Windhoek.
